Please Take the Confederate Flag Down From the Capital of South Carolina

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent  about things that matter." Martin Luther King First, my heart and prayers go out to the families and friends, the congregation, the people of Charleston and to our country. The horrific shootings at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, SC are a symptom of a deep-rooted sickness in our country that can only begin to heal when we treat the root causes -- fear and hate. As I watch the television coverage of the families of those murdered, I am amazed by their faith and their commitment to forgive the man who took the lives of their loved ones. They should be an inspiration to all of us. We must move to a collective mindset where love is the foundational value that shapes our lives, our communities, our country and our world.
